Under the auspices of the Arab Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, affiliated to the League of Arab States, the founding meeting and the celebration of the Arab League for Astronomy and Space were held at the Kottamia Astronomical Observatory of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics. Palestine, Kuwait, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, where Prof. Dr. Gad El-Qady, President of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, was chosen as the General Secretary of the Association.
The organizing meeting of this association was held on the sidelines of the hosting of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, the fourth Arab School of Astrophysics, in cooperation with the Arab Astronomical Society (Morocco) and the Scientific Society of Astronomy and Space (Egypt) from 19 to 26 October 2019 at the Kottamia Astronomical Observatory. The school is attended by 35 – 35 students (Egyptians and Arabs) representing the following Arab countries: Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Sudan, Lebanon and UAE. The number of lecturers 11 – eleven – (Egyptians, Arabs and foreigners) in addition to the number of five of the operating team of the astronomical site of Kottameia of scientists and engineers.
